I liked Randi and Kreskin.
I saw Amazing Kreskin in college. I don’t know why he needed to be debunked. He just had a show like many magicians and “mentalists”. He didn’t dupe people other than use rather obvious observational techniques and tricks like gathering information cards from the audience before the show. He just didn’t come clean about what he was doing, same as Randi himself. Randi would duplicate many tricks using magic, but like most magicians, wouldn’t reveal the trick other than say that it was “magic”. Randi did go after complete frauds like Ramtha, Peter Popoff, and Uri Geller who did dupe and defraud people. Kreskin was a showman who made people act like chickens up on stage for a living. He certainly didn’t seem to be living large when I saw him at a smallish college show in 1984.
Anyway, I’m sorry that Randi is gone.
